Spiritual opportunities abound throughout Las Cruces and Doña Ana County.
Virtually all major Religions and Faiths are represented in our 200 churches, synagogue, mosques and other Houses of Worship.
Religious facilities range from the historic, to the modern non denominational centers located throughout the county. Two of the landmark historical religious facilities are linked to our Spanish Catholic History.
St. Genevieve's was a simple church, named for a young woman who saved Paris from Attila the Hun in the fifth century. It, had been constructed in the 1850's near the center of town. In 1886, an imposing French style brick cathedral with forty-four foot high twin spires rose to replace the old adobe building.
The church served Las Cruces from its central location on Main Street for eight more decades until structural deterioration and impending "urban renewal" forced its demolition in 1967. It has been rebuilt in another part of town, but the icon remains as an iron monument on its original site.

The second wonderful historic Church - now designated as a Basilica- is San Albino Church located on the Plaza in historic La Mesilla, This is one of the oldest churches in the Mesilla valley. The original church, constructed in 1851 has been rebuilt on its original site in 1906. It is a true landmark located at the center of the best-known, and most visited, historical community in Southern New Mexico- Old Mesilla.
Our wonderful Multi-Cultural community is home to over 200 Houses of Worship representing virtual every faith. The list below is representative of the scope of these house of worship. As a note a number of these offer educational facilities for children and adults.
